Nepal Educational Tour

The 10 days Nepal Educational Tour is a perfect trip to Nepal for students, or for those who are interested about mountains, nature, and local culture including religion and farming. The tour visits ancient palaces, religious sites, and villages where traditional culture can still be experienced. You will also experience wonderful trekking through beautiful villages and spectacular landscapes with amazing mountain views.

Your tour starts in the Kathmandu Valley where you will explore magnificent palaces, ancient Hindu and Buddhist temples, and streets full of beautiful old architecture. As you explore the city you will have the opportunity to experience many aspects of the Nepali culture and life.

After exploring Kathmandu you will drive to Besisahar by four-wheel drive. The road passes through the beautiful Trisuli and Marshyangdi River valleys, visiting charming settlements and cultivated farmland.

You will trek from Khudi Bazaar to Ghalegaon, seeing life in isolated villages and observing people in their daily activities. Ghalegaon and Bhujung are large and unique Gurung villages in the area. You will experience local hospitality, cultural showns local farming and may watch wild bee harvest site. Ghalegaon also provides spectacular mountain views of Manaslu, Himal Chuli, Ngadi Chuli and Lamjung Himal and neighboring foothills. 

Next, we visit the beautiful and peaceful city of Pokhara, located 200km west of Kathmandu at an altitude of 800m. This charming city is famous for its dramatic views of snow-capped mountains including the 8000m high Annapurana-I and Dhaulagiri. Pokhara sightseeing includes a boat ride on Fewa Lake, Gopteswar Mahadev Cave, Devi's Falls and a drive to the Peace Pagoda for stunning views of the Pokhara valley and surrounding mountains. Pokhara is also the home of the International Mountain Museum where you will see displays about mountain people from all over the world, the history and geography of the Himalayas, and the history of mountaineering. 

 General Informations

  1. Staff: This unique educational trip is coordinated by a special professional tour leader and guide. During the trip to village trekking, every 4 members will get an assistant guide and necessary porters to carry your bag.

  2. Accommodation: The accommodation will be twin-sharing basis during the trekking. Each room has two separate beds with clean bed sheet. For those who don’t have sleeping-bags, we will provide them. Kathmandu and Pokhara we will provide 3 star standard hotel accommodation including breakfast. 

  3. Water: You can fill directly from tap and use iodine tablet or any other water purification tablets. You can also buy boiled water from the tea house with no need to use any purification tablet. That will not cost you much compared to bottle water, and is better for the environment. These days Steri Pen is getting popular and handy for use. It is very safe to use. Otherwise, please don't drink water directly from the tap, jug or stream, which may cause stomach problems.  During the trip, we will provide safe drinking water, except for Pokhara and Kathmandu where it is easily available. 

  4. Preparations: You don't have to be a mountaineer or athlete to come to Nepal. As long as you are in good physical shape or reasonably fit, you do not require extensive hiking experience for this short trip. The time you put into physical training before you come to this trip definitely be rewarded and prepared mentally ready to face a different environment and culture. 

  5. Meals: In Kathmandu meals are not included except breakfast. Your breakfast is included with room. During the trekking, three times meals, hot drinks and water are included. Depending on the places where we are, some day you will be staying with family and they will cook the food for you and some days when you stay at lodges, the meals will not be very fancy. It will be simple and sometimes only local Nepali food. The host families are well aware about hygiene, and they provide good toilets and showers. Your drinking water will be treated by SteriPEN, or you can have boiled water along the village trip.

  6. Transport: We will provide all the transportation for the trip including air tickets from Pokhara-Kathmandu. The transport from Kathmandu-Khudi Bazaar and Ghalegaon-Pokhara will be by 4-wheel drives. Each jeep carries 4 people plus 3 staff.  
  7. Flight: Between Kathmandu and Pokhara there are daily flights operated by different airline companies. The planes are comfortable and bigger than those that fly to many mountain areas. Each flight takes 20-25 minutes. Try to sit on right from Kathmandu, and left side from Pokhara, in order to see absolutely amazing panoramic views of the Himalayas. 

  8. Communication: Now in the Annapurna area, most places have landline telephone service and your cell phone will receive network throughout the trip, if the weather is stable. Kathmandu and Pokhara have Internet service and Wi-Fi. 

  9. First Aid: Your guide is trained first-aider and he has good knowledge of general travel medicine. Depending on the group size and your requirement we can include a doctor on the trip as well, but there would be an extra charge. We provide all the general medicine and basic first aid. 
  10. Safety: Our first priority is your safety and well-being. Therefore, we have  designed the trip carefully to minimize any risks.  Our guides have taken safety training and always carry first aid kits with all general drugs. Emergencies are quite unusual but traveling with us provides peace of mind that any possibility will be dealt with efficiently and professionally. Every four students will have an assistant guide to look after them. The fooding will be overseen by our staff during the trekking. Your water will be treated by SteriPEN or boileding.  There will be safety briefing before trip departure and you will get note including safety before you leave home. 
  11. Money and Payment: Money exchange facility is only available in Kathmandu and Pokhara. So please change your money in Kathmandu before heading for the trip and, if possible, take smaller bills. Kathmandu and Pokhara have ATM facilities.  

    We need a deposit of $300 two months in advance from each participant. Your final payment is in Kathmandu. We accept Euros, US, Australian and Singapore dollars and credit cards. 
  12. Insurance: You may do your travel insurance in your country and we will coordinate with your insurance company for emergency or we can do your insurance here too. But for more  reliable service, we suggest you better do it in your country and give us detail of your insurance policy and emergency contact person’s details. If the weather is stable we can rescue the victim within 3-6 hours from anywhere in Nepal by helicopter. Your insurance has to cover helicopter rescue.

  13. Activities: Your guide will brief the next day’s schedule in the evening and coordinate whole activities throughout the trip and your assistant guide always with you for any help you needed.

    You will get the opportunity to interact with local families and learn their lifestyle. You will visit organic tea gardens and the people who look after the garden will brief basic method of tea gardening. Depending on season, we will take you to wild bee harvesting site and you get general information about the wild bees in Nepal and harvesting technique. We will also take you in farming land and let you know the basic technique of farming and crops. If we have time, we will do a presentation about People in Nepal and their religion. Kathmandu and Pokhara we will take you historical and religious site where you can learn basic idea of religious practice in Nepal, our history and Culture. From Pokhara mountaineering Museum you get information of mountaineering history, mountain people and important of mountains. You also get the opportunity to visit the local School for observation and will get basic idea of our education system and students.

Days Program
01 Arrival at Kathmandu International Airport. Our representative will pick you up and transfer you to your hotel. In the evening your guide will get to know you over dinner, and brief you about your trip.  Over night at Hotel
02 After breakfast you will start your sightseeing in the Kathmandu Valley. Swayambhunath (MonkeyTemple). It is located on the western side of Kathmandu valley is one of the oldest and most glorious Buddhist shrines in the world. Pashupatinath Temple is one of the most sacred and worshiped Hindu shrines in the world. The richly-ornamented pagoda houses the sacred linga, or phallic symbol, of Lord Shiva as well as gold plated roofs and silver coated doors. Boddhanath Stupa, is dramatic and one of the biggest Buddhist stupa in the world. Patan Darbar square is an enchanting mixture of palace buildings, artistic courtyards and graceful pagoda temples and it is listed as a World Heritage Site. Over night at Hotel Breakfast/Lunch
03 This morning you set off for Khudi Bazzar. You will drive through the beautiful, Tirsuli and Marsyangdi river valleys. The drive will take 6-7 hours. Over night at Hotel Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner
04 Today after your breakfast we start hiking. The trail winds gently uphill through Chhetri, Bramand, Gurung villages and Sal forest. Today will be great opportunity for you to absorb daily activities of those remote villages. The friendly locals will greet you with a smile.  After 4-5 hour of hiking, you will reach to Ghalegaon. Ghalegaon is located at top of the hill altitude of 2070m. There you will experience local hospitality with a family and after your dinner they take you to see a cultural show.  Over night at Home Stay Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner
05/06 Your day begin early morning start today as we walk to a view point to watch the sun rise over the mountains, including the massive Manaslu-I 8163m. After that there is an easy 3 hour trek through Nayu village to Bhujung and on the way visit organic tea gardens. At Bhujung you will have an opportunity to experience the farming and will do site trip to wild honey hunting site, where local harvest the honey twice year. Bhujung is one of the largest villages in the area.  There are more than 400 household. The area is populated by Gurung people. Over night at Home Stay Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner
07 Trek back to Ghalegaon after Lunch Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner
08 Drive to Pokhara by our own reserve 4 wheel jeep, The road descent from Ghalegaon to Besisahar takes about one and half hours, and it is dirt road. You will then drive through the beautiful river valley from Besisahar to Pokhara. Over night at Hotel. Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner
09 Today our day begins very early in the morning. We drive to Sarangkot which provides an absolutely wonderful view of the snowy peaks and sunrise. We return to the hotel and gather for breakfast. After breakfast we will drive to the Peace Temple above Pokhara. On a clear day the view of the Annapurnas and Dhaulagiri from the Peace Temple is absolutely stunning. Return to your hotel and have a breakfast. Visit Mountain museum, Gopteswar Mahadev Cave, Davi's fall, Seti gorge. Over night at Hotel Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner
10 Free morning to wonder the Lakeside and afternoon fly back to Kathmandu Over night at Hotel Breakfast/Lunch
