What to Bring On The trek

Whatever type of trek you choose, your basic clothing and equipment list will be similar:

List of Equipment

  1. Bags: A small day pack, backpack, or duffle bag.
  2. Down or fiber-filled jacket
  3. Water and windproof jacket (Gore-Tex)
  4.  Poncho
  5. Fleece jacket.
  6. Hiking shirts
  7.  Cotton and polypropylene t-shirts
  8. Full polypropylene or fleece t-shirts (jumper)
  9. Sun hat and woolen hat or balaclava
  10. Hiking pants with zip off legs or a pair of shorts
  11. Nylon wind pants, preferably waterproof.
  12. Long underwear.
  13. Gloves and or mittens if you tend to get very cold
  14. Gaiters
  15. Trekking boots and camp shoes or thongs
  16. High quality trekking socks- four or five pairs, some woolen for cold conditions.
  17. Sleeping bag -20c or warmer if you tend to sleep cold
  18. Water bottle or water pack (CamelBack, Platypus, etc.)
  19. Flashlight
  20. Sunglasses or goggles with UV protection
  21. Sunblock cream
  22. Towel and Hand wipes
  23. Iodine, water purification tablets or filter (antiviral type recommended like First Need), Steripen is more handy these days
  24. Medical & First Aid kit
  25. Battery charger, batteries and a voltage converter.
    Note:Once you leave the trailhead, the opportunities to recharge batteries are very limited. Keep that in mind when selecting your Camera and buying batteries.
  26. Lip balm (chip stick)
  27. Pocket knife small Swiss-army type
  28. Paperback, books and play cards
