Yala Peak Climbing

Yala Peak is a good introductory climbing peak for anyone who wants to stand on a Himalayan summit but who isn’t quite ready for anything over 6000m. The Yala Peak climb is not a highly technical one. Climbers need not have great outdoor experience, but should be at least moderately physically fit.

Yala Peak is in the Langtang Region, north of Kathmandu, an area populated by the ethnic Tamang and Tibetan peoples.

Our trek starts from the village of Syaphrubesi, which is a 7-8 hour drive from the capital by local bus or reserved transport. From Syaphrubesi we follow the Langtang valley trekking trail all the way to Kyanjin Gompa. All along the valley superb Himalayan mountain scenery towers above you. From Kyanjin Gompa we head north toward Yala Peak base camp. From the summit you can see great numbers of snowy mountain peaks, including Lantang Lirung (7246m), Lenpo Gang (7083m), Dorje Lakpa (6990m), Shishapangma (8027m) in Tibet, as well as wonderful views of the Langtang valley.

After the ascent we return to Shyaphrubesi along the same route we followed on our inbound trip.
