Education and health care are the most important need in the remote villages of Nepal. Many of these villages are too poor to support the creation and maintenance of schools. The result is that thousands of children have no access to education. Many of these villages have no medical facilities, and due to lack of health care awareness, many villagers die young or suffer from preventable diseases. Blossom Expeditions has established the Blossom Charity Project to support isolated villages off the main trekking trails. We assist with providing resources to schools and medical supplies to existing medical posts in remote villages.

Our Aim

We aim to make a difference to life in remote villages by:

  • Organising "Helping Hand" treks to villages off the main trekking trails, enabling these communities to earn an income from tourism.
  • Provide stationery, teaching materials, text booksand other learning resource materials and school bags for children attending the village schools.
  • Building villager awareness of the importance of education and encouragingthem to send their children to school.
  • Organizing health, hygiene and environment awareness program in villages and schools.
  • Delivering medical supplies to village medical posts.

Source of Funds

Blossom Expeditions Pvt. Ltd. contributes 5% of total profits to the Blossom Charity Project. Many of our regular clients also contribute. Participants in our "Helping Hand" treks are asked to contribute towards the supplies and additional porter costs for that trek.

Your small contribution will help a great deal. We are looking forward to your support for our small health and education projects.

School Supplies

Blossom Charity Project supports Shree Kamalamai Lower SeconderySchool yearly from 2015. The school is located in the remote village of Maili-4 Likhu Pikey rural Municipality, Solukhumbu, Nepal. The School was established in 1988. About 120 students study up to grade 7, and 6 teachers teach here. The remoteness of the village, poor infrastructure, limited resources available, and economic circumstances of the families make it hard for parents to support their children's education.

Blossom Charity Project has been helping Maili village school's (Shree Kamalamai Lower SeconderySchool) Students and School since 2015 by organizing school materials, stationery supplies for the school materials, stationery, School Bags, Printer, and Photocopy machine, and sports equipment to the schools.

About a week after the first devastating Earthquake 25 April 2015, the district chief of Rasuwa called his wife. She lived in our neighborhood. There were over 500 people taking shelter under the Tirshuli Hydropower's empty buildings in a place called Mailung. Among them, more than 90 were pregnant women and maternal mothers. They didn't have warm clothes, blankets and mattresses. District chief's wife Gita Nepal asked Amber Tamang (the founder of Blossom Expeditions) to help them. Immediately after that, with the initiative of Amber Tamang, we collected two big duffle bags of clothes, blankets, mattresses and emergency foods within a day. After we went to Mailung village and distributed it mainly to the pregnant women, maternal mothers, and children.

After that day with the initiative of Ambar Tamang, we kept continuing the earthquake aid collection. With the help and cooperation of Blossom Expeditions's clients, we were able to distribute earthquake relief in many places. For example, we sent medical supplies twice in Ghatlang and once in Thuman village in Rasuwa District, and more than 150pcs of Mattresses and some blankets to Ghatlang. Similarly, while helping the earthquake victims, we gave financial assistance to 7 families to rebuild their houses. They were working with Blossom Expedition or associated with it. In addition, we provided emergency financial assistance to over 60 families, including those living in Maili, Juke, and Kathmandu.

The demonstrating earthquake in 2015 completely damaged the school classrooms in Maili village and in the initial phase we provided some financial assistance to buy wood to make desks and benches for the temporary classrooms. Later in the same year, we provided whiteboards, teaching materials for temporary classrooms, and Stationery for all the students for up to one year.

Since then, except in 2016, we have been continuously providing stationery goods to the students, sports, and school materials to the students of (Shree Kamalamai Lower SeconderySchool) Mailivillage School. We would like to inform everyone that we have got great support and assistance from our foreign friends (Clients of Blossom Expeditions) to accomplish our mission. Without their support and contribution, we wouldn't be able to complete and continue our project. We would like to thank all of them from the bottom of our hearts for their support.

Blossom Expedition organizes treks into some of the areas that were most affected by the 2015 earthquake. These communities are off the main trekking routes and lack critical educational resources and medical supplies. They also need visitors to help them recover and build their local economies.

Our Helping Hand treks are organized in these fascinating less-visited areas:

If you participate in a "Helping Hand Trek Nepal", you will contribute a small amount of funds towards school and medical supplies and porter wages to carry these villages along our route. You will personally visit the schools and medical posts where the supplies will be donated. We encourage you to also bring suitable supplies from home, and can provide advice on what would be most useful for the communities on the trek.

Your donation will provide much needed resources. This is a rare opportunity for you to directly help the people of Nepal while enjoying a memorable journey to the Himalayas.

Economically disadvantaged countries like Nepal, along with their rural populations, face significant poverty. The COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing war and conflict have worsened the situation, making it challenging for rural villagers to sustain their livelihoods and provide educational materials for their children. Even a small amount of assistance can ensure that children in these communities can continue their education without being deprived of essential resources.

Since 2015, the Blossom Charity Project has been annually supporting the Shree Kamalamai Lower Secondary School by providing essential school supplies. These include stationery, sports equipment, school bags, computers, printers, and photocopy machines. The school, established in 1988, is situated in the remote village of Maili-4 Likhu Pikey Rural Municipality, Solukhumbu, Nepal. It serves over 125 students up to grade 8, with seven dedicated teachers.

In 2024, we supplied stationery, sports equipment, three branded Dell computers, and other materials, benefiting not only the students but also their parents and the school administration. The warm welcome and heartfelt appreciation from the school community reaffirm the impact of our support.

Looking ahead to 2025, we plan to organize the Pikey Peak Thole Demba Charity Trek through Maili Village. This trek, off the beaten path, will not only offer an adventurous journey but also contribute to the community and school. A portion of the trip's proceeds will fund the Blossom Charity Project, enabling us to provide essential supplies to schools in Maili village along the trek route. Participants are encouraged to bring English storybooks, stationery, or other educational materials to further support the cause.

Beyond trekking, we aim to extend our support to other remote village communities, focusing on education and healthcare. Identifying areas in need, we plan to distribute computers, stationery, sports equipment, and other school materials to deserving schools. The challenges posed by village remoteness, poor infrastructure, limited resources, and economic constraints make our assistance crucial for ensuring children's access to education.

Your participation in the scheduled Pikey Peak Thole Demba Trekking will directly support the Blossom Charity Project in 2025, some of the trip profit goes to the Charity. For trek details and registration, please visit the provided link. Your support will make a significant difference in the lives of these communities, and we sincerely appreciate your generosity.
