Nagarkot is located east of the Kathmandu valley, approximately 1930m above sea level. It is one of the renowned tourist destinations of the region. This popular hill station provides breathtaking views of the majestic Himalayas, rolling hills, deep valleys, lush green forests and picturesque villages. Nagarkot is a well-known spot to enjoy the magnificent sunrise and sunset view near Kathmandu.
Drive to Nagarkot early morning depending on the season, we start the tour 4-5am. After enjoying the sunrise view we have a hearty breakfast and walk around and explore Nagarkot. Then a short drive to Changu Narayan Temple, situated on a ridge overlooking the valley, about 12 km east of Kathmandu. It is dedicated to the Hindu God Vishnu – the Preserver. One of the finest and oldest specimens of pagoda architecture, the temple is embellished with exquisite wood and stone carvings and is said to be the oldest pagoda style temple in Nepal built sometime back in 323 A.D. The sacred complex is a World Heritage Site and offers a panoramic view of the surroundings. After visiting the temple we drive to the ancient city of Bhaktapur. Perched on a hill at an altitude of 1,401m, Bhaktapur or Bhadgaon, literally translates as City of Devotees. A major tourist attraction covering an area of 4 sq. miles, this city retains the charming red brick houses, and a way of life that goes back to medieval times. The extraordinary Durbar Square with its celebrated Golden Gate and extraordinary Palace of Fifty-Five windows reflects the glory days of the Malla Dynasty when art and architecture thrived in the three cities of the valley. Situated 14km east of Kathmandu, this ancient city is also famous for pottery and woodcarving amply displayed on the squares and windows respectively.
Day-1: Departure from your Hotel to Nagarkot 4:00 or 4:30AM depending in a season drive by Car, Van or Bus takes approximately one and half hour to reach Nagarkot, where you will enjoy the wonderful Sunrise and breathtaking Mountain View with hot breakfast. From there you will drive to Changu Narayan Temple and explore world heritage sites including the fascinating and unique Changu Narayan Temple dedicated to Lord Visnu. After that you will drive to one of the oldest city of Bhaktapur in Kathmandu valley. Enjoy the Lunch sitting in traditionally decorated Restaurant and after Lunch explore Durbar square and return to your Hotel. Time 8-9 hours
