Climb the World’s Eighth-Highest Mountain, Mount Manaslu (8,163m)
The Mount Manaslu Expedition is a thrilling alpine adventure in the central Himalayan Range of Nepal. Located in the remote northern Gorkha Region near the Tibetan border, Mount Manaslu is famous for its massive snow-covered ridges, technically challenging climbing sections, and stunning Himalayan scenery. This expedition is perfect for mountaineers looking for a quieter and technically rewarding Himalayan ascent
Journey into the Pristine and Isolated Manaslu Region
The expedition starts in Kathmandu with expedition preparation, permit arrangements, and official formalities before driving to Machakhola. From there, the trekking journey follows the beautiful Manaslu Circuit route along the Budhigandaki River, passing through remote mountain villages, lush forests, suspension bridges, deep river gorges, dramatic cliffs, and alpine landscapes toward Sama Gaon.
Along the way, climbers pass through traditional Gurung and Tibetan villages, experience their rich culture and mountain lifestyle, and visit ancient monasteries, mani walls, colorful prayer flags, and warm local hospitality. The route also offers magnificent views of Manaslu North, Himalchuli, Ngadi Chuli, Ganesh Himal, and surrounding snow-covered peaks. At Sama Gaon, situated at 3,500 meters, climbers spend time acclimatizing before continuing toward Manaslu Base Camp at 4,750 meters.
Breathtaking Route to the Summit of Manaslu
From Manaslu Base Camp, the expedition progresses through four high camps positioned at approximately 5,700 meters, 6,400 meters, 6,800 meters, and 7,400 meters before the final summit push. The climb involves steep snow slopes, glaciers, crevasses, exposed ridges, and demanding high-altitude conditions.
The breathtaking 360-degree panorama from the summit of Mount Manaslu is truly unforgettable. Climbers are rewarded with spectacular views of the Annapurna Range, Ganesh Himal, Himalchuli, the Tibetan Plateau, and an endless chain of snow-covered peaks extending toward the Tibetan Plateau.
