Hidden Valley Trek in the Annapurna Region
Nar Phu Trekking is a true off-the-beaten-path adventure in the Annapurna Region. This hidden remote valley offers untouched Himalayan landscapes combined with rich Tibetan Buddhist culture. The trail passes through narrow canyons, forests, dramatic cliffs, waterfalls, and isolated villages, creating a timeless trekking experience. Ancient Buddhist monasteries, Mani walls, stupas, and panoramic mountain views make this journey incredible.
Remote and Restricted Himalayan Valley
Nar Phu Valley remained isolated for decades and was officially opened to foreign trekkers in 2002. Although close to Lamjung District and influenced by Manang, the region preserved its unique identity. The local communities of Nar and Phu historically traded labor, yak meat, and butter with Manang. The valley was also influenced by Tibetan Khampa settlers until 1964. Today, a special trekking permit is still required, keeping the region preserved and less crowded.
Nar Phu Trek Route Highlights
The journey starts with a drive from Kathmandu to Besisahar, then continues to Koto through rural landscapes. From Koto, the trail leaves the Annapurna Circuit and follows the Nar Khola. Trekkers pass deep gorges, towering cliffs, rivers, and waterfalls, enjoying a true Himalayan adventure in a remote setting.
Nar and Phu Villages – Tibetan Culture Experience
Nar and Phu are the main villages of the valley, set beneath snowcapped peaks. These settlements reflect strong Tibetan Buddhist traditions with monasteries, prayer flags, Mani walls, and stupas. Visitors enjoy warm mountain hospitality and experience authentic Himalayan village life.
Kang La Pass and Trek Completion
The highest point of the trek is Kang La Pass at 5320 meters, with stunning views of the Annapurna and Manaslu ranges. From here, trekkers can continue toward Manang or return to Kathmandu.
Join Blossom Expeditions and explore hidden remote valleys, ancient culture, and high mountain passes, and witness breathtaking Himalayan views.
