Climb the World’s Seventh-Highest Mountain
The Dhaulagiri Expedition is one of Nepal’s most demanding and challenging 8000-meter climbing adventures. Standing at 8,167 meters, Mount Dhaulagiri is the seventh-highest mountain in the world and one of the most technically challenging peaks in the Himalayas. Famous for its massive snow-covered face and striking pyramid shape, Dhaulagiri offers an unforgettable experience for experienced mountaineers seeking a true high-altitude expedition in Nepal.
Trekking Through Remote Villages and Untouched Landscapes
The expedition begins in Kathmandu with permit preparation and official formalities, followed by a scenic flight to Pokhara and a drive to Takam. From here, the trek follows remote mountain trails through traditional villages, where you experience the local culture and lifestyle of the region.
The route passes through lush rhododendron and bamboo forests, deep valleys, and rugged alpine terrain before reaching the Italian Base Camp at 3,660 meters. Along the way, enjoy spectacular views of magnificent snow-covered peaks, including the Dhaulagiri Massif.
Technical Adventure to the Dhaulagiri Summit
After reaching Dhaulagiri Base Camp at 4,750 meters, climbers prepare for the summit through proper acclimatization and technical training. The expedition involves climbing through four high camps across steep snow slopes, glaciers, icefalls, and exposed alpine terrain.
A successful summit rewards climbers with breathtaking panoramic views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Himalayan ranges, as well as the spectacular valleys of Mustang and Dolpo. During the return journey, the trail crosses the famous French Col (5,360m) and Dhampus Pass (5,244m) before descending toward the Kali Gandaki Valley.
