According to etymology, the name Nagarjun is based on a mythological belief that it is the location where Acharya Nagarjuna meditated. The Nagarjun day hike begins from the Shivapuri National Park gate, which is about 7km from the tourist center of Thamel. We reach there by a short drive and approximately three-hour walk through the forest. The walk is an absolutely wonderful hiking experience and you may encounter some wildlife and see many different varieties of birds. After a steep three-hour climb, we reach the top of the hill, from where you can see incredible Himalayan views, the Kathmandu valley, and the beautiful scenery of surrounding hills and valleys. It is also famous for pilgrimage, where every day hundreds of devotees circle the old Buddhist Stupa, the hidden cave, and monastery. We return to the same place and drive back to your hotel.
