Why Choose the Lakuri Bhanjyang Day Hike?
The Lakuri Bhanjyang Day Hike is probably the most scenic day hike in the southern hills of Kathmandu Valley, offering a perfect escape into nature. Surrounded by the hills of the Kathmandu Valley, this trail rewards hikers with a wide 160° panoramic view of the valley and the Himalayan range. Starting from Lamatar, the route follows peaceful and less-crowded trails. Within a short walk, you’ll enjoy beautiful views of terraced farmlands, traditional villages, and the countryside, making it ideal for nature lovers and those seeking a quiet getaway.
What Is the Lakuri Bhanjyang Day Hike Route?
This 6–7 hour hike begins with a short drive from Kathmandu to Lamatar. The trail gradually ascends through scenic landscapes toward Lakuri Bhanjyang, offering continuous views along the way. From there, the route continues east along a dirt road to Ranikot, where the ridge provides spectacular views on both sides—perfect for photography. The descent leads to Ghyampe Danda and continues down to Suryabinayak via the peaceful Pilot Baba Ashram, completing a rewarding day hike near Suryabinayak, Bhaktapur.
When Is the Best Time for Lakuri Bhanjyang Day Hike?
The best time for the Lakuri Bhanjyang Day Hike is from late September to May. Autumn and winter offer clear views and pleasant conditions, while spring brings blooming rhododendrons. The monsoon season (June to August) is less suitable due to slippery trails.
