A Short, Scenic, and Gentle Himalayan Adventure

Set out on a rewarding 4-day Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek, one of the most popular and gentle treks in Nepal’s Annapurna Region. Perfect for families, beginners, and first-time trekkers, this short adventure offers stunning Himalayan views, comfortable teahouse accommodation, and delicious local meals, without the challenges of high-altitude trekking. Although April-May is the best month to enjoy rhododendrons in full bloom, the trek is equally enjoyable from March to June and September to December. With Blossom Expeditions, departure dates can be customized to suit your schedule.

The main highlight of the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trekking is the early-morning hike to Poon Hill, one of the finest viewpoints in the lower Annapurna Region. Also known as the Annapurna Sunrise Trek, this journey takes you through lush rhododendron and oak forests, terraced hillsides, paddy fields, and diverse vegetation, creating a perfect balance of nature and culture.

Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek Itinerary Highlights

The trek begins at Tikhedhunga, reached by a scenic two-hour drive from Pokhara. From here, the trail winds through charming Gurung and Magar villages and shaded forest paths. One of the memorable challenges along the way is the ascent of over 3,000 stone steps at Ulleri, leading toward the beautiful village of Ghorepani, situated at approximately 2,874 meters. This village serves as the central hub of the trek and a resting point before the sunrise hike.

Poon Hill is renowned as one of the best sunrise viewpoints in western Nepal, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, and Manaslu Himalayan ranges. Watching the first golden light touch the snow-capped peaks is an unforgettable experience. The trek also passes through Ghandruk, the largest Gurung village in the region and a former headquarters of the Annapurna Conservation Area Project, reflecting the area’s strong commitment to eco-tourism. Along the way, enjoy the warm hospitality and rich traditions of the local Gurung and Magar communities.

Discover the natural beauty and cultural richness of the Annapurna Conservation Area with Blossom Expeditions.
