Following ancient trading paths, the trek remains less crowded, offering a true Himalayan wilderness experience.
Pikey Peak and Scenic Cultural Journey
The Pikey–Dudhkunda Trekking begins from Dhap after a day’s road journey from Kathmandu. The trail follows historic routes through Jhapre Gumba (2,820 m) and Lhamje Danda to Pikey Base Camp. An early morning hike to Pikey Peak (4,065 m) rewards you with stunning 360-degree views of the world’s highest peaks, including Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Kanchenjunga, Annapurna, Manaslu, and their surroundings.
The trek then continues to Junbesi, a beautiful Sherpa village known for its picturesque valley, terraced fields, pine forests, monasteries, and traditional lifestyle, making it a key cultural highlight.
Dudhkunda Lake and Spiritual Experience
The route passes the sacred Buddhist Thupten Chholing Monastery, an important spiritual center founded in 1960. Continuing through alpine landscapes, the trail reaches Dudhkunda Lake (4,561 m), a sacred milky-white lake set beneath the dramatic peaks of Mt. Numbur, Khatang, and Karyolung.
A Quiet Himalayan Escape
The return trail descends via Chiwang to Phaplu, followed by a drive back to Kathmandu. Throughout the trek, enjoy jaw-dropping panoramic Himalayan views of the Annapurna, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Jugal Himal, Gaurishankar, Everest, Makalu, and Kanchenjunga ranges.
