Every single corner has Temples, Courtyards, Bahals, Monasteries, Stupas, and is full of Cultural and Religious activities to watch. Ancient Kathmandu City offers antique art, fascinating architecture, history, tradition, and daily life Kathmandu People.
Kathmandu 1 day tour includes four UNESCO World Heritage Sites Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), Patan Darbar Square, Pashupatinath Temple, and Boudhanath Stupa.
Swayambhunath Stupa is located on the western side of Kathmandu valley atop a hill, about three kilometers from the city center. At almost two thousand years old, it is also one of the oldest and most glorious Buddhist shrines in the world.
Patan Durbar Square. Like its counterpart in Kathmandu, this is an enchanting mixture of royal palace buildings, artistic courtyards, and graceful pagoda temples. The former royal palace complex is the center of Patan’s religious and social life and houses a museum containing an array of bronze statues and religious objects. One of the remarkable monuments here is a 17th century stone temple dedicated to the Hindu God Krishna.
Pashupatinath Temple is one of the most sacred and holiest Hindu Temples in the world. (Chronicles indicate Pashupatinath’s existence prior to 400 AD.)It is dedicated to Shiva and features richly ornamented pagoda houses of the sacred linga or phallic symbol. Pilgrims and sadhus travel all the way from the remote areas of India to visit this sacred sight, especially during Shivaratri (the night of Shiva) that falls during February/March. Devotees can be seen taking ritual dips in the holy Bagmati river flowing beside the temple.
Bouddhanath Stupa is the biggest stupa in the valley and one of the largest in the world. At 36 meters high the stupa exudes an aura of power as one spins the hundreds of prayer wheels and gazes at108 small images of Buddha.
