What Is the Khayar Lake Trekking in the Annapurna Region?

The Khayar Lake Trek, also known as the Khopra Danda Trek, is a peaceful and less-crowded alternative to classic routes in Nepal’s Annapurna region. This off-the-beaten-path journey leads deep into the Annapurna Conservation Area, offering an authentic Himalayan trekking experience. Trekkers enjoy breathtaking views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges, along with the dramatic Kali Gandaki Gorge, the world’s deepest gorge. The trail passes through rhododendron forests, alpine landscapes, and picturesque Magar and Gurung villages, revealing untouched mountain beauty and rich local culture.

How Does the Khopra Danda Trek Itinerary Begin?
The trek starts from the beautiful Gurung village of Ghandruk, known for its traditional stone houses, Gurung culture, and warm hospitality. The route passes through Gurung and Magar settlements, offering insight into local lifestyles. From Tadapani, the trail leaves the main route and ascends toward Dobato through quiet, lush forests, where you may encounter yaks and local shepherds.

Hikes to Mulde Peak reward you with mesmerizing sunrise and sunset views. The trail continues via Sistibung to Khopra Danda and the sacred Khayar Lake. From there, enjoy panoramic views of Nilgiri, Annapurna I, Annapurna South, Annapurna Fang, and Dhaulagiri above the Kali Gandaki Valley.

How Does the Khopra Ridge Trek End?
The return trail descends through forests and alpine pastures to Paudar village. The trek concludes at Tatopani, where natural hot springs provide a relaxing finish, followed by a scenic drive to Pokhara.

Why Choose the Khayar Lake Trekking?
