Pikey Peak Everest Trek, is designed for those who are looking for a longer trek, geographical variation, and to experience different cultures and customs of different ethnic people. Blossom Expeditions has combined two different treks together, Pikey Peak in the lower Solukhumbu region and Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Valley Trek in the upper Solukhumbu region. Also Trekking from Dhap has the advantage of helping you to acclimatize.
Pikey Peak Everest Trekking begins from Dhap Solukhumbu. We drive by Jeep from Kathmandu, which takes 7-8 hours to Dhap, from where we see a panoramic view of the Himalayas including Mt. Everest and beautiful mountain valleys. Along the trail, we see giant snowcapped Mountains, surrounding valleys, and going through beautiful Rhododendron and Pine forest, and summer pastures to Pikey Peak (4065m). We can see a 360-degree view from the top of Pikey Peak with six world’s highest Peaks Mt. Everest, Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, Makalu, Manaslu, and Annapurna, and a beautiful sunrise view. On the way, we have an opportunity to visit ThuptenChholingManastery. It is the main religious center in the whole Solukhumbu district. This magnificent place is home of over 800 Monks and nuns and was established by the late KyabjeTrulshik Rinpoche in 1960. Late KyabjeTrulshik Rinpoche was one of the religious heads of the Tibetan Buddhist community.
From the lovely Sherpa village of Junbesi, we follow the traditional route taken by the early Everest expeditions which used to be the main trading route of the Khumbu region. Both the upper Khumbu region and the lower Solu region are known as the Solukhumbu. It is the home of the Sherpas. This relatively tiny society of 300,000 plus people is one of the most well-known and most respected ethnic groups in Nepal. According to their oral history, Sherpas migrated to the high valley south of Mt: Everest from eastern Tibet about 450 years ago. Hence the name Sher-pa is “people of the east”. Trekking through the Sherpa villages you may share many of their hearths and enjoy their generous hospitality.
This Pikey Peak Everest Trek is an exciting adventure, that takes you to some of the best viewpoints like Pikey Peak (4065m), Nagartsang Peak (5083m), Kala Patar (5545m), and Gokyo Ri(6373m), high Himalayan pass Cho La (5420m) and also most hikers dream destination Everest Base Camp (5353m). All these high points provide outstanding Mountains and surrounding valleys views. The trek covers all the major parts of Solu and Khumbu Valley. The trek is approximately 195 km long and the trek ends in Lukla.
