Helambu (“the hidden valley,” or Ba Yul) was blessed by Guru Rinpoche, and many other great rinpoches (Buddhist teachers) have visited this secret holy land. This valley contains many important pilgrimage sites for Buddhists. There are centuries-old monasteries, traditional Buddhist wall paintings, beautiful clay statues, colorful prayer flags, and hundreds of old and new stupas and mani walls.
The Helambu Trekking provides excellent panoramic mountain views. At different places along the trail, you will see the great mountains of the Langtang Range, Ganchenpo, Dorje Lakpa, Gauri Shankar, Dom Blanc, Gaurishankar, Ganesh Himal and Manaslu. You will walk through beautiful natural and agricultural landscapes, encountering charming ethnic Tamang and Sherpa villages. The unique mountain cultures of the local people will impress you, and their friendliness and warm hospitality will touch your heart.
The trek to Helambu is one of the few Himalayan treks that remain open for twelve months of the year. Helambu is the most easily accessed of all the trekking areas. The trek provides a sudden, dramatic contrast between the higher and lower areas of the Himalaya.
This 7-8 days Helambu Trekking is suitable for those who don’t have a long holiday or who do not want to climb to high altitudes. The highest point of the trip is the top of the Yangri Peak (AmaYangri or mother god of the Helambu valley), at 3700m. From here we can see 360° views including a great number of snowy peaks. This is another beautiful and astonishing trek that we offer you in the Himalayas.
