Trip FAQs

Food: The Tea houses are run by family most of the trekking areas. In Annapurna-Ghorepani trail lodges offer a menu with diverse western and local foods like Dal Bhat, MOMO, Spring Rolls, Spaghettis, Chicken Item (Roast Chicken, Fry, and Grilled Chicken), and many items Potato based Items. Most Lodge owners have been in the business for a long time and have mastered knowledge in preparing food under less-than-ideal conditions! They use fresh vegetables, whenever they can bring them from the Nearest Market Nayapul or Pokhara as well as pre-packed products. The milk along the trail is powder milk (added with water), always ask for hot milk, and avoid any raw food or vegetable, fresh salad, or fresh fruit salad; unless they have been soaked in iodine water or your hand is clean enough.

Water: you can fill directly from the tap and use an Iodine tablet or any other water purification tablet. You can buy boiled water from the tea house in the evening, morning, or afternoon, and no need to use any purification tablet. That will not cost you much comparing bottled water. These days Steri Pen is getting popular and handy for use. It is very safe to use. Please don’t drink water directly from a Tap or from a Jar and stream, which may cause your stomach problems. Please remember; before you buy bottled water don’t forget to see the expiration date.

Accommodations: on the trail, usually you will have a double room with a separate bed. Usually, rooms are small. But plenty of space for you to move around and form matters with a clean bedsit. In Ghorepani, Lodges have warm dining with a centrally heated chimney to keep you warm in the evening. The lodge owner always gives door luck. Don’t leave the room without luck.

First Aid Kit and Medical Facility Each of you should have your own first aid kit with some general medicine that you know or prescribed by your doctor. Please don’t forget to take your medication for the whole trip. If you stop taking your medication or if you will not have the full course of medication, that you are taking, it may create trouble for you on the trek. Our guide has a First Aid Kit with general medicine for emergencies and shares it with everyone including porters. The nearest hospital in the area is in Pokhara; although villages like Ulleri, Ghorepani, and Ghandruk have Health posts for the villagers to provide very basic information and health care.

Preparations: You don’t have to be a mountaineer or athlete to visit Nepal. As long as you are in good physical shape or reasonably fit, you do not require a big hiking experience for short treks. The time you put into physical training before you come on this trip definitely be rewarded.

Weather: Weather in spring is Haze and Clouds build up from the afternoon and afternoon rain is common in spring. But usually in the morning sky is clear and provides a magnificent view of the mountain. During the day temperature will be warm and you may feel sweaty mid-day in the lower section of the trek. But when you are in the Ghorepani-Tadapani area, the temperature drops a lot, especially at night. The possible temperature at night will be 0 to -5C˚ outside the room and during the day time will be warm on sunny days.

Communication: Now in the Annapurna area, most places have landline telephone service and your cell phone will receive network signals in some places if the weather is stable. There are internet café in Ghorepani and Ghandruk.

Transport: There is a daily local and Tourist bus service between KTM to Pokhara. The highway is good in our standard and travels thousands of locals and foreigners by land every day. You can travel by standard AC tourist coach to a local cheap bus depending on your budget. From Pokhara-Nayapul-Pokhara we basically arrange a private transfer, Which can be Taxi, Van, Car, or Bus depending on group size.

Flight: Daily flights between Kathmandu and Pokhara are operated by various airline companies. The planes offer many comforts and are larger than those that fly to many mountain areas. The duration of each flight is 20-25 minutes, depending on the airline. For the best panoramic views of the Himalayas, it is recommended to sit on the right side when departing from Kathmandu and on the left side when departing from Pokhara.

Money & Payments: Throughout the trek, there is no foreign Money exchange facility. So please change your money in KTM or Pokhara before we heading for the trek and if possible make smaller bills. We require a 20% deposit of the total trip cost two months before your trip starts to confirm your reservation. The remainder of the payment must be made on your arrival in Kathmandu. We accept the U.S. dollar, Euro, Australian dollar, Singapore Dollar, and Visa or Credit card.

Travel Insurance Policy: You must do travel insurance and that should cover Helicopter evacuation too. Comparatively, the evacuation cost is very expensive and recently Helicopter fare is increased. According to the new rate per hour, U.S. $2500, and one-time evacuation from the Annapurna region will cost a minimum of U.S. $10000. We need to deposit the money before taking off the helicopter from KTM. Usually, the local trekking company pays the deposit to the Helicopter Company and rescues the Victim. You can pay immediately for the trekking company once you arrive in KTM or Trekking agency claims from your insurance company. Please do not forget to give me your insurance policy copy before heading to trek.

Staff Welfare: We are committed to the welfare of our staff, including trip leaders/guides, assistance guides, cooks, and porters. We ensure good wages, proper insurance, and the necessary clothing for all associated staff. They are the backbone of the adventure industry in Nepal. In Nepal, it is customary to tip field staff at the end trip as a token of gratitude for their hard work, and they also anticipate tips from clients.
